2010 HONDA CIVIC SEDAN Review
Overview
A 4-door, 5-passenger family sedan, the 2010 Honda Civic Sedan is available in DX, DX-VP, LX, LX-S, EX and EX-L trims. After a full redesign in 2009, the Civic Coupe drives into 2010 largely as a carryover model. Commanding full-size sedan presence, high-performance look and feel, and wide-opening doors for ease of entry and exit mark the Civic Sedan's exterior while the interior features a number comfort and convenience amenities including air conditioning, state-of-the-art audio system, Bluetooth and navigation systems.
Powertrain And Performance
The 2010 Civic Sedan is motivated by a responsive 140-horsepower 1.8-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine teamed with either a standard smooth-shifting 5-speed manual transmission or the available 5-speed automatic.
The manual transmission models deliver 26/34/29 and the automatic equipped ones yield 25/36/ 29 mpg city/highway/combined*. The Civic Sedan offers a cargo volume of 11.5 cubic feet.
Build And Styling
The DX models come with power windows, 15-inch steel wheels with covers and P195/65R15 tires, and a folding rear seat. The Civic DX-VP Sedan adds air conditioning, a four-speaker 160-watt AM/FM Audio System with CD player (MP3/WMA enabled), and an auxiliary audio input jack.
The LX models feature 16-inch wheels with full covers, power door locks with auto-lock, security system with remote entry, cruise control with steering wheel-mounted controls, power windows with auto-up/down driver's window, floor mats, body-colored power side mirrors and a sliding center armrest. The LX-S upgrades to 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome exhaust finisher, leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear decklid spoiler, and black sport-trimmed interior with exclusive silver stitching.
The Civic EX Sedan comprises a one-touch power moonroof, a 60/40 split folding rear seat, ambient console lighting, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and the availability of the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System with Voice Activation, which also includes XM Satellite Radio. The top of the line Civic EX-L comes with leather-trimmed seating surfaces, console, steering wheel and shift knob; heated seats; and heated door mirrors.
Safety Features
Honda's exclusive Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions. Standard on the Civic Sedan EX-L, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control can brake individual wheels and/or reduce engine power in the event of oversteer or understeer to help regain the driver's intended path. The system also features a traction control function to help prevent wheelspin during acceleration.
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Daytime Running Lights (DRL), LATCH, dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags (SRS), front side airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS), side curtain airbags and 3-point seat belts at all seating positions are standard.
